"The Screening Room" Film Series

All this year, the FLPL will continue its popular film series, “The Screening Room: Classics, Crowd-Pleasers and Neglected Gems,” chosen and introduced by author and movie historian Terry Pace, who teaches English and film courses at the University of North Alabama. Pace says of the series, “The library is the cultural center of the community and an ideal gathering place for film fans. These days we have all grown accustomed to watching movies in the comfort of our homes, but there’s nothing quite like watching films in a group setting, where we can share our reactions with others. That really tends to heighten both the experience and the enjoyment.”

The following films have been scheduled for "The Screening Room" series:

Nov. 13, 7 p.m. – The Screening Room/Claude Rains Classics: Alfred Hitchcock’s Notorious (1946), starring Cary Grant, Ingrid Bergman and Claude Rains

Nov. 22, 2 p.m. – The Screening Room/50th Anniversary Screening: Alfred Hitchcock’s North By Northwest (1959), starring Cary Grant, Eva Marie Saint, James Mason and Martin Landau

Dec. 6, 2 p.m. – The Screening Room: We’re No Angels (1955), starring Humphrey Bogart, Peter Ustinov, Aldo Ray, Basil Rathbone, Joan Bennett and Leo G. Carroll
