About the Library - Departments

A journalist wrote, "Libraries are a critical component in the quality of life equation. Vibrant libraries make for vibrant communities." I am proud to say that the Florence-Lauderdale Public Library is helping to make Florence and Lauderdale County a vibrant community. Citizens of all ages use the library every day to check out books and audio visual materials, to research local history and genealogy, to use the public access computers, and to attend classes, programs and meetings. Over 1200 children attended the Summer Reading Program in 2006. Thousands of people attend programs, films, and meetings at the library. And almost 250,000 items will be checked out this year.

With the assistance of the library foundation's successful fundraising, outstanding support of the Friends of the Library, and the support of local government we are on the way to being an outstanding public library in Alabama.

An outstanding library staff stands ready to assist you seven days a week. Come to the library and Check Us Out!
